Plane Prototype History:
The OH-6 Helicopter Is The Farthest Flown Helicopter In The United States. On April 6-7, 1966, The Aircraft Was Piloted By Pilot Fei Rui And Set A World Record For A Straight-Line Range Of 3561.55 Kilometers. In The Vietnam War, The Us Army Urgently Needed A Highly Operable Four Seat Turbine Engine Light Reconnaissance Helicopter (Loh Program). In 1961, 12 Companies Submitted Proposals To The Army, And Hughes' Design Not Only Met The Basic Mission Requirements Of The Military, But Also Could Carry Out Escort, Attack, And Evacuation Of Casualties. In The End, The Military Chose Hughes' Plan, Which Was Codenamed 369. Later, It Was Codenamed MD500/530 Defender At For Mcdonnell Douglas, With The Military Designation OH-6A. OH-6 Officially Entered Service In 1965. The "Egg Shaped" Body Of The OH-6A Is Small, Sturdy, And Compact, With Four Rotor Blades Fixed To The Rotor Hub By Synthetic Lightweight Metal Fiber Made Chord. This Four Seater (Rear Seat Can Accommodate 6 People) Droplet Shaped "Flying Egg" Helicopter Is Compact, Lightweight, Sturdy, Easy To Operate, And Has Very Low Resistance During Flight. In Early 1968, The OH-6A Was Deployed To The Vietnam Battlefield, Assigned To Division, Regiment, And Battalion Level Units, Replacing The OH-13 And OH-23 Light Observation Helicopters For Tasks Such As Command, Observation, Target Capture, Reconnaissance, And Casualty Evacuation.
